What pupils practice
- Identify parallel or perpendicular lines, even when the figure is turned.
- Check a relationship with a set square or by measuring the gap.
- Spot these relationships in the world around them.
- Draw a parallel or perpendicular line through a given point.
How to play
- Choose an activity: Identify, In real life, Draw or Mix.
- In “Identify”, the pupil sorts two randomly drawn lines.
- In “In real life”, they look at a window, a ladder, a crosswalk, a clock or a pair of scissors.
- In “Draw”, they tap the grid point that makes the requested line.
In the classroom
Have pupils state their answer before turning on the set square, then ask a classmate to check it on the board.
After a mistake, the useful tool turns on by itself: take time to describe aloud what it shows.
Useful settings
- Two levels: horizontal and vertical lines, or turned figures.
- Series of 6, 8 or 10 questions.
- The set square and distance arrows are available at any time.
